OUR TEAM
Richardson Capital is managed by a team of professionals with over 120 years of combined business experience in the operation and management of private and public corporations, private equity investing, corporate finance, accounting and taxation. The Investment Committee currently consists of Hartley T. Richardson, H. Sanford Riley, Robert Puchniak, David Brown and James A. McCallum.
Hartley T. Richardson
Managing Director
Hartley is President and Chief Executive Officer of James Richardson & Sons since 1993. A graduate of the University of Manitoba, he serves as Director of Angiotech Pharmaceuticals Inc., Canadian Pacific Railway, NeuroMed Technologies Inc., and the Canadian Council of Chief Executives.
H. Sanford Riley, C.M.
Managing Director
Sandy joined RFG after 10 years as President and Chief Executive Officer and later Chairman of Investors Group. Prior to his tenure at Investors Group, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Trilon Financial, where he had specific responsibility for extensive merchant banking and asset management activities. A graduate of Queen's University and Osgoode Hall Law School, Sandy was recently appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada in recognition of his business achievements and community service.
Robert G. Puchniak
Managing Director
Bob has 34 years of operational and financial experience with the Richardson family of companies, most recently as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of James Richardson & Sons, Limited. His experience includes the full range of research, investment banking, portfolio management and private equity investing. He co-founded Tundra Oil & Gas Limited in 1980, serving as its President and Chief Executive Officer for more than 15 years, during which time the company grew from an equity investment of $1 million to an equity value well in excess of $100 million. Bob is a graduate of the University of Manitoba and is a CFA charter holder.
David G. Brown
Managing Director, President & CEO
Dave is the President and CEO of Richardson Capital Limited and has overall responsibility for the operations for the fund. Dave is the former Corporate Secretary of James Richardson & Sons, Limited and a former partner in the independent law and accounting firm, Gray & Brown. He has over 15 years of experience in advising family businesses and investment companies in the areas of taxation, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, corporate reorganizations, financings and estate planning, and has been involved in the vast majority of investments made by the Richardson Family. Dave, a graduate of the University of Manitoba, is a practicing lawyer and Chartered Accountant.
James A. McCallum
Managing Director
James has over 13 years of corporate finance deal structuring, M&A and capital markets experience. Prior to joining the Firm, he spent 9 years in investment banking in Toronto and New York, with Salomon Smith Barney and then Deutsche Bank Securities, focusing on mergers, acquisitions and capital markets activities for clients in the specialty chemicals, advanced materials and plant biotechnology sectors. James is a graduate of the University of Manitoba and is a CFA charter holder.
Mark Gray
Principal
Mark is a former partner of the independent law and accounting firm, Gray & Brown. He has over 25 years of experience in advising family businesses and investment companies in the areas of taxation, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, corporate reorganizations, financings and estate planning. Mark, a graduate of the University of Manitoba, is a practicing lawyer and Chartered Accountant.
Stephen C. Boyd
Vice President
Stephen's primary responsibilities include research, due diligence review and financial modeling for the Fund's investment opportunities. Stephen is a graduate of the University of Manitoba and is a CFA charter holder.
Kerry E. Crawford
Vice President, Finance and Administration
Kerry is responsible for the accounting and administration of the Fund as well as assisting in the evaluation of the portfolio investments. Kerry has over 20 years experience in the financial services industry operating as Chief Financial Officer for two of Manitoba's largest pension plans, as Vice President, Pensions at Rice Financial Group and as Senior Manager with Deloitte & Touche. Kerry graduated from the University of Manitoba and is a Chartered Accountant.
